Dr. Walter L. Liefeld

Dr. Walter L. Liefeld
Dr. Walter L. Liefeld is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He joined the faculty in 1963 and continued at TEDS for thirty one years. Dr. Liefeld also served as pastor or interim pastor of a number of churches in New York and Illinois. Most recently he was the senior pastor of Christ Church Lake Forest in Illinois. Both Dr. Liefeld and his wife, Olive, have been personally active in missions around the world.

While Olive was a missionary in Ecuador, her first husband, Peter Fleming, was killed with four others while trying to witness to the Waorani people. Olive returned to Ecuador in 1989 and has written a book entitled Unfolding Destinies: The Ongoing Story of the Auca Mission.

Dr. Liefeld considers his time at Trinity as "a wonderful means of ministering to the church at large, as well as to the missionary enterprise." The Liefelds continue to support Trinity today, and have planned a gift for the future. "Giving to Trinity enables us to have a part in a truly worldwide ministry. To build the global church of the future it makes sense to support future missonaries, pastors and lay leaders now, in their studies."

"We have included Trinity in our will. In our case, especially being retired, we aren't able to give as much as we would like now, but we do have that guarantee of a future gift. I would like to encourage other people who can't give immediately to consider giving to Trinity from their estate."
